How We Do It

Laois Traveller Action Group (LTAG) is a Traveller organisation that represents, promotes, supports, and empowers Travellers. LTAG works to achieve equality, better living conditions, better health, and the recognition of Traveller culture and ethnicity. In county Laois there is a Traveller population of less than 1,000.

LTAG staff teams provide a primary healthcare programme, and community development programmes aimed at men and women along with a range of supports linking with other providers in the field of:

  • Education
  • Mental Health
  • Substance Misuse
  • Housing
  • and Traveller Rights.

Annette Long 1

Annette Long
Project Manager

Annette has been with LTAG since 2014 in the capacity of Office Manager. Annette was appointed Project Manager by the board of Management in December 2021.

Brian Byrne 1

Brian Byrne
Community Development Worker

Brian Byrne has been with LTAG since 2019. Brian is our Community Development Worker, Men’s Programme. Brian also works with families and individuals in various areas such as accommodation, education supports, advocacy and groups.

Jules has worked in LTAG since 2019. Jules is our Community Development Worker, Women’s Programme. Jules also works with families and individuals in various areas such as accommodation, education supports, advocacy and groups.

Amy Costello
Primary Healthcare Coordinator

Amy joined LTAG in January 2022 and her post is Primary Healthcare Coordinator. Amy works directly with the PHC Team in conjunction with Nuala Hogan, Co-Coordinator, delivering health messages to the community regarding  mental health, diabetes, cardiovascular, asthma and more.

Louise McInerney

Louise McInerney
Receptionist

Louise has been with LTAG since 2020. Louise is LTAG’s Receptionist and first point of call for visitors and clients to the premises. Louise is currently completing a preparation course with a view to commencing a level 7 Diploma in Community Development in Practice with a focus on Community Wellbeing.

Nuala Hogan

Nuala Hogan
Co-Coordinator, Primary Health Care

Nuala is employed by the HSE. Nuala is Assistant Director of Public Health Nursing Co-Coordinator Primary Health Care Programmes for Travellers in Laois and Offaly. Nuala is based in LTAG four days a week.

Social Worker

Aislinn has recently joined LTAG team as Social Worker with a focus on Mental Health and Wellbeing. Aislinn is based two days a week in Laois and two days in Offaly Traveller Movement.

Bridget is part of the Primary Healthcare Team. She has worked for LTAG since 2012. Bridget’ role is to help and support Traveller families in Laois. She is also a member of the Traveller community
